About
Completed at the end of the seventeenth century, the basilica's facade is carved like a tall stone altarpiece in several tiers. Inside, the venerated image of the Virgin of Solitude draws pilgrims from across the state, and her feast in December is one of the great events in the city's calendar.
Best time to go: Visit in the morning, then try a traditional ice cream from the vendors on the plaza below the church.
