About
Built for Sultan Ahmed I in the early seventeenth century, the mosque faces Hagia Sophia across a garden square. Its cascading domes rise over a prayer hall lined with thousands of handmade İznik tiles in blues and greens, lit by more than two hundred windows.
Best time to go: Visit outside prayer times, remove your shoes, and cover shoulders, legs and hair.
