About
Independence Palace, also called Reunification Hall, was designed by the architect Ngô Viết Thụ as the home and workplace of the president of South Vietnam. On 30 April 1975 a tank crashed through its gates in the Fall of Saigon, the event that ended the Vietnam War. After reunification it remained in government use. Today it is open to visitors as a historic landmark and public hall.
Best time to go: Visit in the morning, and allow time to explore all floors of the building.
