About
The Saigon Opera House was designed by French architects and completed in 1900 as the city's municipal theatre. Like the opera houses of Hanoi and Haiphong, it is a fine example of French colonial architecture. From 1956 it housed the National Assembly of South Vietnam and later its two chambers, before returning to its role as a theatre. It still hosts performances today.
Best time to go: See the facade at dusk, then book a show if you want to see the interior.
