About
The Venetians built the present fortress in the early sixteenth century and marked it with the winged lion of Saint Mark, still visible on its walls. Inside, vaulted halls once used as barracks and stores lead up to a broad rooftop, and the old Venetian arsenals stand across the harbour.
Best time to go: Walk the long harbour breakwater first, then climb to the roof for views back over the town.
