About
St. Joseph's Cathedral is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Hanoi and stands on Nhà Chung Street in the Hoàn Kiếm district. Building began in 1884 and the church opened in December 1886, making it one of the first structures of the French colonial government. Its Gothic Revival design resembles that of Notre-Dame de Paris. It is dedicated to Joseph, the patron saint of Vietnam.
Best time to go: Visit in the late afternoon, then sit at a café on the square to watch the evening crowds.
