About

Armenian Street is a narrow lane inside George Town's World Heritage Site, best known today for its street art and cultural spaces. It began as part of a Malay settlement, and the later arrival of Armenians and Chinese gave it a mixed character. Sun Yat-sen held his Penang conference here, a meeting that fed into the fall of the Qing Empire in 1911. Clan temples and old shophouses line the route.

Best time to go: Walk it early in the morning, before the tour groups, to see the murals and shophouses in quiet streets.
