About

Begun by Giorgio Vasari in 1560 as offices for the Medici administration, the Uffizi now holds one of the densest collections of Renaissance painting anywhere. Plan at least half a day, reserve a timed entry, and save energy for the Botticelli rooms and the river views from the top-floor corridor.

Best time to go: First entry of the morning, or late afternoon on weekdays.
