About
Opened in 1824 in the western suburbs, the gaol held men and women convicted of crimes great and small, and later political prisoners. Wax figures and audio guides recreate conditions in the cells, and the old governor's house now contains a museum of early Irish broadcasting.
Best time to go: Allow time for the radio museum on the upper floor, which is often overlooked.
