About

Completed in the 1870s on a site linked to Cork's founder, St Finbarr, the cathedral was the first major work of the architect William Burges. Its richly carved west front, vivid stained glass and mosaic floors make it one of the finest Victorian buildings in Ireland.

Best time to go: Visit on a sunny afternoon, when light streams through the rose window.
