About
Tradition holds that King Mangrai surveyed the land from this hill before founding Chiang Rai in the thirteenth century. The temple's golden chedi stands among trees on the summit, and the modern Navel City Pillar, a symbol of the city's foundation, shares the hilltop.
Best time to go: Walk up in the late afternoon for views over the Kok River as the sun goes down.
