About

The pillar was raised in 1987 to mark the sixtieth birthday of King Bhumibol and the 725th anniversary of the city's foundation. Its design draws on Lanna beliefs about the universe, with a central pillar encircled by 108 others and terraces representing land, water and the tiers of heaven.

Best time to go: Visit together with Wat Phra That Doi Chom Thong on the same hilltop, ideally in the late afternoon.
