About
According to tradition, lightning split the temple's chedi in 1434 and revealed a stone Buddha that became the revered Emerald Buddha, now in Bangkok. A jade replica, made in 1990 to honour the ninetieth birthday of the Princess Mother, is kept in a hall in the grounds, and the complex also has elegant Lanna buildings and a museum.
Best time to go: Visit in the morning and see the small museum of Lanna art in the grounds.
