About
Gregor Mendel was a friar and later abbot at St Thomas's Abbey in Old Brno, where he cross-bred thousands of pea plants in the 1850s and 1860s. The museum tells the story of his work, shows the footprint of his greenhouse in the garden and includes the abbey's historic refectory and library.
Best time to go: Visit on a fine day so you can linger in the abbey garden where the pea experiments took place.
