About
The museum tells the story of the Hanseatic League's Kontor at Bryggen, where German merchants and apprentices lived and worked under strict rules. The Schøtstuene were their assembly rooms, where they cooked, ate, held meetings and kept warm in winter, as fire was banned in the wooden trading houses. The displays bring to life the long trade in stockfish from northern Norway.
Best time to go: Visit after walking Bryggen's alleys, so the rooms and assembly halls make sense of what you have seen.
