About
Plaka's narrow streets are lined with neoclassical mansions, Byzantine chapels and small squares shaded by bougainvillea. Above it lies Anafiotika, built by islanders from Anafi in the nineteenth century, with whitewashed houses and steps that could belong to the Cyclades.
Best time to go: Wander in the early evening, then climb into the tiny Anafiotika quarter above for its island feel.
