About

Designed by Bernard Tschumi and opened in 2009, the museum stands over excavated remains of an ancient neighbourhood, visible through glass floors. Its galleries hold the original Caryatids and archaic statues, while the glass-walled top floor sets out the Parthenon frieze in its original arrangement, with gaps left for the pieces held in London.

Best time to go: Visit before or after the Acropolis itself, finishing on the top floor with the Parthenon marbles.
