A narrow bridge has crossed the Amstel here since the seventeenth century, and the present double drawbridge dates from the 1930s and later renovations. Still raised by hand for passing boats, it is illuminated at night and gives lovely views along the river.
Best time to go: Come after dark, when hundreds of lights outline the bridge over the Amstel.
