The elegant classical house was built for Johan Maurits of Nassau in the 1630s and overlooks the Hofvijver lake. Its compact collection includes Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring and View of Delft, Rembrandt's Anatomy Lesson of Dr Nicolaes Tulp and Carel Fabritius's tiny Goldfinch.
Best time to go: Go early in the day for time alone with Girl with a Pearl Earring.
