About
Founded by Artur Hazelius, who also created Skansen, the museum moved into its cathedral-like building in 1907. Its collections trace everyday life in Sweden from the sixteenth century onwards, from costume, furniture and table settings to Sami culture and festive traditions, beneath a huge painted statue of Gustav Vasa by Carl Milles.
Best time to go: Combine it with the Vasa Museum next door and start in the great hall with its statue of Gustav Vasa.
