About

Opened in the early 1990s as a gift marking ties with Spain, the complex was designed by the Catalan architect Oriol Bohigas on a former railway site. Terraces and steps descend the cliff towards the river, and old tunnels carved into the bank have been reused as galleries and event spaces.

Best time to go: Come at sunset and walk down the broad steps towards the river as the light fades over the islands.
