About
Inaugurated in 1957, the memorial was designed by the architects Ángel Guido and Alejandro Bustillo as a stone ship sailing towards the Paraná. A tall tower, a civic courtyard and a triumphal propylaeum make up the complex, and each year on 20 June it becomes the focus of Argentina's national Flag Day celebrations.
Best time to go: Take the lift up the tower in the late afternoon for long views over the Paraná and the city at golden hour.
