About

Founded in 1991 by the banker Manuel Espinosa Yglesias in memory of his wife, Amparo Rugarcía, the museum is known for the quality of its displays. Its pre-Hispanic galleries trace the art of ancient Mexico region by region, while other rooms cover viceregal painting and furniture, and changing exhibitions bring in modern and contemporary work.

Best time to go: Finish your visit on the rooftop terrace café, which looks straight across to the cathedral towers.
