A plain Gothic church hiding one of the most lavish gilded Baroque interiors in Portugal.

About
The church was founded by Franciscan friars in the fourteenth century, but its interior was later covered with carved and gilded woodwork, including a famous Tree of Jesse. The catacombs beneath hold the tombs of friars and wealthy families, and the adjoining museum displays religious art.
Best time to go: Combine it with the Palácio da Bolsa next door and the Ribeira quays below.
