About
Opened in the early twentieth century on the site of a former convent, the station's hall is decorated with around twenty thousand azulejos by Jorge Colaço. The panels depict battles, royal episodes and scenes of rural life, with a colourful frieze tracing the history of transport.
Best time to go: Step inside the main hall on your way through the centre; mornings are quieter.
