About
Designed by Frederick William Stevens and completed in 1888 as Victoria Terminus, the station combines pointed arches, stone domes and stained glass with Indian carving of peacocks, monkeys and foliage. It still handles millions of passengers a day, and its central dome and turrets make it one of the finest railway buildings of the nineteenth century.
Best time to go: View the façade from across the road, then step into the concourse to watch the commuter rush.
