About
Completed in 1869 and named after the city's first municipal commissioner, the market hall mixes Norman and Flemish styles, and its stone reliefs of farmers at work were designed by John Lockwood Kipling, father of Rudyard. Inside and around it, traders sell mangoes in season, dried fruit, spices and almost everything else a Mumbai household might need.
Best time to go: Go in the morning for the freshest fruit and the liveliest trading, and keep an eye on your belongings.
