About
The great twin pyramid, dedicated to Huitzilopochtli and Tlaloc, stood at the heart of Tenochtitlan until the Spanish demolished it. Its ruins were rediscovered in 1978 when electricity workers struck a huge carved stone disc of the moon goddess Coyolxauhqui, and the museum now displays offerings, sculptures and models of the ancient city.
Best time to go: Walk the excavated ruins first, then allow plenty of time for the site museum and its great carved monoliths.
