About
Built on the site of Moctezuma's palace and later home to the viceroys of New Spain, the Palacio Nacional has been the centre of government for centuries. Between 1929 and 1951 Diego Rivera covered its stairway and upper corridors with murals that trace the nation's story from pre-Hispanic times to the twentieth century.
Best time to go: Bring photo ID for the security check and head straight for the Diego Rivera murals on the main staircase.
