About
Begun in 1904 and stalled by the Revolution, the palace was finally inaugurated in 1934, which explains its Art Nouveau shell and Art Deco halls. It is home to the national ballet and opera, and its galleries display murals by Rivera, Siqueiros, Orozco and Tamayo, including Rivera's Man, Controller of the Universe.
Best time to go: See the murals by day, then return after dark, when the white marble facade and its domes are floodlit.
