About
Founded in 1846 and landscaped in the late nineteenth century by William Guilfoyle, the gardens combine sweeping vistas, specimen trees and collections of plants from around the world. Paths wind around the ornamental lake, through a fern gully and past the volcano reservoir, and the surrounding running track is a Melbourne institution.
Best time to go: Walk in from the Shrine of Remembrance and circle the ornamental lake on a fine afternoon.
