Opened in 1959 on the lakeshore, the museum brings together locomotives, cable cars, lake steamers and aircraft in a series of halls. Interactive displays, a planetarium and a vast aerial photograph of Switzerland on the floor make it absorbing for visitors of every age.
Best time to go: Arrive by lake steamer and plan on half a day or more, especially with children.
