About
The basilica's two unequal towers are one of the city's defining sights, and from the taller one the hejnał trumpet call sounds every hour, breaking off mid-melody in memory of a legendary watchman. Inside, the limewood altarpiece carved by Veit Stoss in the late fifteenth century is the largest Gothic altarpiece in the world.
Best time to go: Be inside just before noon, when the great altarpiece is ceremonially opened.
