About
In the early nineteenth century the city demolished most of its fortifications and planted a park in their place. Today the Planty circles the old town for about four kilometres, and a surviving stretch of wall with the Florian Gate and the round Barbican shows what once stood here.
Best time to go: Walk the ring in autumn, when the old trees turn gold around the old town.
