About
Opened in 1910 just below the old town, the museum brings together collections that range from Egyptian and Roman antiquities to arms, furniture and European painting. Its best-known treasure is Konrad Witz's fifteenth-century altarpiece showing the Miraculous Draught of Fishes, with the shore of Lake Geneva painted as its setting, one of the earliest recognisable landscapes in European art.
Best time to go: Head straight for Konrad Witz's altarpiece, then leave time for the period rooms and archaeology.
