About
In August 1980 strikers at the Gdańsk shipyard, led by Lech Wałęsa, won the right to form an independent trade union, setting in motion events that helped end communist rule. The rust-coloured centre, opened in 2014, tells the story through personal accounts, film and objects from the strikes.
Best time to go: Visit in the morning, then see the monument to the fallen shipyard workers at the gate.
