About

Opened in 1874 in the San Lorenzo district, the market still serves locals with butchers, cheese counters and greengrocers on the ground floor. Try a lampredotto (tripe) sandwich at one of the counters. The upper floor was turned into a food court with shared tables, a good stop for an easy lunch.

Best time to go: Weekday mornings for the produce stalls; the upstairs food hall is open late.
