About
The temple was founded in the fourteenth century in a royal flower garden to house a relic of the Buddha, enshrined in its great bell-shaped chedi. Around it stand dozens of smaller white chedis holding the ashes of Chiang Mai's royal family, and a Buddhist university campus within the compound runs popular conversations between monks and visitors.
Best time to go: Come in the late afternoon, when the white chedis glow in the low sun against Doi Suthep.
