About
The square moated old city was laid out in the thirteenth century, and its brick walls and gates were rebuilt over the centuries. Tha Phae Gate, restored in its present form in the 1980s, opens on to a broad square that hosts events and markets and leads directly into the lanes of the old town.
Best time to go: Use it as a meeting point in the morning or evening, when the square is at its liveliest.
