About
Completed in 1993 to designs by the French architect Michel Pinseau, the mosque stands partly over the ocean on reclaimed land. Its minaret rises to about 210 metres, and the prayer hall, with a roof that can slide open, holds tens of thousands of worshippers. It is one of the few mosques in Morocco open to non-Muslims, on guided tours.
Best time to go: Join a guided tour to see the prayer hall, then stay for sunset along the esplanade by the sea.
