About
The hill takes its name from Saint Gerard, said to have been martyred here in the eleventh century. Paths climb past his statue and a cave church to the Habsburg-era Citadella and the Liberty Statue, with a sweeping panorama of the bridges, the Parliament and Castle Hill.
Best time to go: Walk up from the Elisabeth Bridge in the late afternoon and stay for the lights along the river.
