About
Hungarian kings built a palace on this ridge from the thirteenth century onwards, and the present Baroque complex was rebuilt repeatedly after sieges and war. Today it houses the Hungarian National Gallery and the Budapest History Museum, and its courtyards and terraces overlook the Danube and the Pest skyline.
Best time to go: Ride the funicular up from the Chain Bridge, then walk the terraces for views over Pest.
