Designed by Imre Steindl and completed in the early twentieth century, the Parliament is one of the largest legislative buildings in the world. Guided tours climb its grand staircase to the domed central hall, where the Holy Crown of Hungary is displayed under guard, and pass through gilded lobbies and the old upper house chamber.
Best time to go: Book a guided tour ahead, then see the building again from the Buda embankment after dark.
