About
Built over roughly three centuries from the early thirteenth century, the cathedral is a fine example of Brabantine Gothic, with a pale stone facade and two square towers. Inside, look for the sixteenth-century stained-glass windows, the carved Baroque pulpit and the remains of the earlier Romanesque church beneath the floor. Royal weddings and state funerals take place here.
Best time to go: Visit on a bright morning, when the Renaissance stained glass in the transepts glows.
