About
After hosting the 1988 World Expo, the south bank of the Brisbane River was turned into a public parkland of lawns, gardens and promenades. Its highlights include the man-made lagoon of Streets Beach, a carved Nepalese pagoda left over from the Expo and the Wheel of Brisbane, and it links directly to the city's cultural precinct.
Best time to go: Walk the bougainvillea arbour in the late afternoon and cool off at Streets Beach on a hot day.
