About
Established in the nineteenth century on land first used for colonial crops, the gardens are the oldest public gardens in Queensland. Majestic bunya pines, fig trees and palms shade the lawns, and a boardwalk through the mangroves along the river gives a close look at the tidal ecology.
Best time to go: Walk the mangrove boardwalk along the river in the morning and look for water dragons.
