About
Founded in the nineteenth century, the museum gathers treasures from across the country. Highlights include the gold Mask of Agamemnon from Mycenae, the bronze Artemision god hurling a thunderbolt or trident, the Jockey of Artemision and the fragments of the Antikythera mechanism, an ancient geared calculating device.
Best time to go: Allow a full morning and prioritise the Mycenaean gallery, the bronzes and the Antikythera mechanism.
