About
Founded in 1579, the monastery grew into a small town within the city, where nuns from wealthy families lived with their servants in private houses. Only a small community remains today, and visitors wander its maze of streets, fountains, kitchens and cloisters, painted in deep blues, reds and ochres.
Best time to go: Explore in the late afternoon, when the low sun makes the blue and red walls glow.
