About
Dug in the medieval period, the Oudegracht is lined with wharves at water level, connected to cellars that run beneath the street above. Once used to store goods, many of these cellars are now cafés and restaurants, giving the canal a two-level character found nowhere else in the country.
Best time to go: Eat or drink on one of the waterside terraces in the old wharf cellars.
