About
The church was vowed after the Tisza flood of 1879 nearly destroyed the city, and building began in 1913. Completed in 1930 after delays caused by the First World War, it is a landmark of red brick and white stone, with a huge organ and a mosaic of the Virgin in Hungarian dress above the altar.
Best time to go: Look inside, then climb the tower if open for views over Dóm Square and the Tisza.
